Musikverein Lacken

Lacken is a village about 20 km north of Linz in the upper Mühlviertel, has about 660 inhabitants and belongs to the community of Feldkirchen/Danube. It was founded in 1960. By that time 25 men and 2 women began with first rehearsals.
In the meantime the band – 75 musicians including 5 „marketenderinnen“ – has grown to one of the largest wind music bands in the district of Urfahr-Umgebung.

Due to successes at concert- and marching contests the young music band has been awarded 6 times by the Landeshauptmann. In September 2019 the society was given the ,Con Bravura prize’.

Highlights of recent years were – apart from a live appearance in the casting show ,Die große Chance’ – the representation of Austria at the ,International Military Tattoo’ in Birmingham/England in November 2014, a concert journey to Shanghai and Beijing in 2017, a gold medal at the Upper Austrian contest ,Music in motion’ in July 2018 and – the ultimate highlight – the victory at the Austrian contest of ,Music in motion’ in Bischofshofen in June 2019.

New adventures in Austria and abroad are welcome and invitations are accepted with pleasure. The next music journey has been arranged for 2020. Switzerland will be the destination with the „Aargauischen Kantonalen Musiktag in Oberrüti“. A highlight in autumn will be the appearance at the UPPERAUSTRIA-TATTOÖ Linz.

Apart from the regular musical programme throughout the year there is a ,Zeltfest’, kind of village fair. In the course of this event there will be the ,Night of brass music’ at the weekend of Mother’s Day in May. Inform at
