The police music – an extremely versatile representative of the Upper Austrian police.
Police Music Upper Austria
In 2005 both historic organizations, the gendarmerie and the police were put together.
At the same time the Gendarmeriemusik OÖ and the police music Linz had to be united to one single body of sound. Since 2006 this newly created orchestra has appeared as „Landes-polizeiorchester Oberösterreich“ and has had the official title ,Polizeimusik Oberösterreich’.
The members of the orchestra are on duty at police stations in the whole federal province of Upper Austria.
According to public relations the orchestra has appearances all over Upper Austria and occasionally in neighbouring states or even abroad.
Thus the orchestra is a versatilely applicable representative of the Upper Austrian police. This variety expresses itself in the repertoire and in different orchestrations, which range from modifications of classical music, classical brass quintet, to contemporary symphonic wind music, Viennese light music, musicals and film music to traditional marches and Bohemian polkas.
Since June 2015 steht Mag. Dr. Harald Haselmayr, former „Militärkapellmeister OÖ“, has been conductor and musical director of the orchestra. For questions concerning organization Musikmeister Ewald Brunner is responsible. ,Stabführer’ is Franz Gruber.
Music officer has been Hofrat MMag David Furtner since January 2020.
Thanks to the support of the ,Landespolizeidirektor’ of Upper Austria Andreas Pilsl, B.A.M.A. the police music of Upper Austria is well equipped and prepared for tasks at present as well as in the future. It is also very interested in continuing Austria’s enormous tradition as a land of music.
In 2019 the orchestra had the great honour to stage a fantastic show at the Berlin-Tattoo.
